Pre-Conflict Overview
It was known as "The City of Dreams" before all hell broke loose. It was heavily industrialized, technologically more advanced than any other city in the world, and was the center place of international commerce. The city was located between the Mon-Sa-Wy region (a portmanteau of Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota; also called Monsawy, MonSaWy, or more inclusively Monsawyoming), which was a U.S. socio-economic region where the 3 states had abut. The city was built by entrepreneur Terry Lansdell, whose vision was to create a international business outlet specializing in STEMA, which by the 21st century had become the world's leading industry, seeing growth of up to 200% by the end of the late 2000s.
The city would be split into 3 sectors in total, with a center part known as the Heart of Crossfate. Here would be the main part of the city, even though it'd consist of only 5% of the total population - most of which being multi-billion dollar corporations and VIPs from around the world. The other 2 sectors would each be split into 2 nodes, each connected by a high speed tram system and housed about 5,000 residents per node. The city was not always like this however.
When it was first created in 2065, Crossfate consisted of only a initial demographic of 1,241 members (most of which being retired or unemployed) and remained vastly un-populated, covered with wooded areas, much like its twin city in South Dakota which had a total population of 1,520. It was a small area of commerce, with it's main focus on privatized education based on the progressing cybernetic and medical fields. It was also a main underground EBNs (Electronically-Based Narcotics) manufacturer.
By 2128 and until the First Mutagen War, it would be the leading city in the United States which provided STEMA education, and made valuable progress. Crossfate University at the time, had a passing rate of around 85%, and of the 85%, most would become the world's best doctors, engineers, and astrology experts. They passed MIT when it came to the cybernetic race, creating the first modular cyborg implants, capable of being embedded into most if not all people, including the disabled. By then, they had a total demographic of about 48,000 combined, and had a ethnic diversity with a predominately white and Asian (mostly Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Indian) background, with Spanish and African-American close behind with ethnic minorities including Europeans and far north residents. The city had multiple job offerings from various of companies ranging from cybernetic manufacturing, architectural design, and much more. It was here where some of the greatest corporations and megacorporations came to life, corporations like Arkaos Tech and at one point, part of GAI.

Post-Conflict Overview
With the escalation of the First Mutagen War, the city itself had a large wall built around it after the rise of rumors about a xylopod invasion on American soil. It built a 45 meter high wall, about 13 meters thick with only 4 main entrances into the city. It saw immigration from all over the world, primarily from neighboring cities in the US and from other states alongside immigrants from Asia, and South America. Megacorporations would replace their headquarters down in Crossfate as well, and private military from GAI was hired to provide private security in the individual nodes. It saw Europeans moving in after the fall of the European countries, and due to this, had added new sectors in fear of overpopulation. Demographics of the city rose to about 74,000 by the winter of 2215.
This number would not hold however. As the lack of any resources would shift into a economic collapse within the city, and then came the year of death. On 2220, approximately 10,000 members of the population would die off, and the outer sectors would be abandoned leading to the infestation of chesspawns and xylopods within the nodes. While it was successfully defended by GAI TSFs and state TSFs, it depleted the city's supplies. This would be the birth of the scavengers. As the city lacked power to regain land, they provided missions of equal pay for scavengers to salvage materials. They formed the scouts to provide long distance reconnaissance in fallen territory, and shifted the TSFs to focus on defensive parameters. This in turn brought little security inside the sectors. Crime became more common throughout the nodes, with black market areas becoming more prevalent and the rise of individual gangs creating turfs.
Following fall of the United States government, Crossfate would create itself into its own sovereign nation, though retaining a government similar to that of the US. The state government running it however, would become a mere puppet government by the corporations inhabiting the city. Megacorporations such as GAI would take control of various actions including the city's remaining military and creating a militaristic nation. It solved the gangs by creating a separate mechanized TSF division to crack down on them, surfing through their turfs and bringing down illegal activity zones.

Culture
Crossfate has a mix of cultures since the refugee crisis seen during the war, and due to this, it has brought a fairly diverse population into the city. Religious wise, the sectors are split into different religions. The people get along together surprisingly, however it's also thanks to megacorporation TSF units, who make sure that the law is enforced.
Like all communities however, it isn't always like that. Crossfate is plagued with corruption, either from its people or from the corporations that inhabit the nation. Since the Mutagen War, a rise in gangs and criminals have been on the rise, and at times have caused the Crossfate government to focus closer on them. Citizens of the nation refer to themselves as Crossfatians.
In the entertainment industry, Crossfatians are known to enjoy old-era like sports - often times more modernized. Things such as Rollerjousting, which originated from the medieval game of Jousting. Most 21st century sports however, have been kept fairly similar, asides from things getting more advanced. Crossfatians are also known to like music, specifically music which closely resemble synthwave, along with more electronic based types of music. Genres such as country or rap, has become an artifact of the past, while digital concerts have been becoming increasingly popular.
Crossfate has a mixed economy which sides more towards capitalism, and due to this the citizens of Crossfate are known to be hardworking. Competition is fierce in the marketplace, whether it be androids vs humans, the supply and demand is gigantic, ever since the expedition into Europe. Unfortunately however, this means that those rich will get richer, while the poor continuously grow poorer. A huge gap could be noticed between the lower and upper classes, from millionaires to those living off by paycheck to paycheck. The economy is ruthless, and due to this - most citizens opt for the more easier scavenger option, which returns pay for old war items.
